Crist-icism Down the Memory Hole

Until earlier today, http://charliecrist.com/2010/04/crist-campaign-rubio-camp-prefers-baseless-rumors-over-talking-about-his-record/ went to this page. Here's the money quote:

“To put these rumors to rest once and for all, as we have said countless times before, Governor Crist is running for the United States Senate as a Republican. He will not run as an Independent or as a No Party Affiliation.

“The Governor is proud of his conservative credentials and stands firmly behind the principles of limited government and more personal freedom, the bedrock values of the Republican Party. He is proud to be a member of the Party of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan.

“This should completely and utterly put to rest any of the unfounded rumors coming from the Rubio campaign that Governor Crist would run as anything other than the Republican that he is.”
Now, strangely, the first link produces this:

A Rock Star in the White House?

I was grabbing a bite of lunch yesterday in a little barbecue joint that has Fox News on the TV, so when they broke in to go live to Obama's comments on the economy I watched while I finished eating. Now the sound was turned down so I couldn't hear what was being said, but what I saw was amazing. Obama was bouncing around shaking hands. Then he bounced up on stage, went by the podium, hugged a woman and then stepped up to began.

"My God" I though. "I've finally figured it out. He thinks he's a blooming rock star!"

Now I don't know if Obama and his handlers didn't realize that the cameras were on....or they just don't care how he looks; but what I saw was in no way Presidential or dignified. The man has no clue what kind of image he is projecting. And I probably would not have caught it if the sound had been turned up because I would have tuned it out and not have been paying attention.

Interestingly a friend who I told about this went to the Fox News website and tried to find the clip.....and said that he couldn't. So I don't know if Fox didn't save it or just has not posted that portion of the clip. But I would like someone else to see this and tell me if I'm imagining things. Because for all his faults, and they were many, I never saw Bill Clinton behave that way. And certainly not W or Reagan.

RTC: Dog Whistles and Golf-Ball-Stealing Monkeys

Is this a racist story?

The story is told of a golf course in India. Apparently, once the English had colonized the country and established their businesses, they yearned for recreation and decided to build a golf course in Calcutta. Golf in Calcutta presented a unique obstacle. Monkeys would drop out of the trees, scurry across the course, and seize the golf balls. The monkeys would play with the balls, tossing them here and there.

At first, the golfers tried to control the monkeys. Their first strategy was to build high fences around the fairways and greens. This approach, which seemed initially to hold much promise, was abandoned when the golfers discovered that a fence is no challenge to an ambitious monkey. Next, the golfers tried luring the monkeys away from the course. But the monkeys found nothing as amusing as watching humans go wild whenever their little white balls were disturbed. In desperation, the British began trapping the monkeys. But for every monkey they carted off, another would appear. Finally, the golfers gave in to reality and developed a rather novel ground rule: Play the ball where the monkey drops it.

It appears to have originally been told in a book by an Episcopal minister, and used a few weeks after the 9/11 attacks in a sermon at Cincinnati's First Congregational Church (UCC):
Needless to say, on Tuesday, 9-11, the monkey dropped the ball in the worst possible place in all of our collective memories.
Now Congressman Roy Blunt (R-MO7) has retold the tale to the Values Voters Summit over the weekend (Story starts at 1:13 if you want to skip the preamble):

Apparently, this story is an example of "dog whistle" racism. My ears aren't good enough to pick up on the racism. Maybe it's because I still remember eight years of George W. Bush being "Chimpler". Or maybe it's just because I'm not losing my fracking mind.

If there were any doubt that The Card is thoroughly played out, this should be it.

FAA Aware of "possibility of public concern" in buzzing NYC with a 747

Amateur-Hour, ClownShoes, or my favorite: "Felony Stupidity" (jump ahead to 2:48)

- Take your pick.

FAA Memo: Feds Knew NYC Flyover Would Cause Panic

Now, of course - the official statements are that Obama is "furious" and "investigating", etc., etc., blah, blah.

At the end of the day, the White House 'Military Office' took Air Force one out for a spin @ almost building-top-level, circling and buzzing NYC with what any reasonable person would have identified as a pair of "chase" F-16s closely tailing the bigger plane.

Who could possibly have predicted that people would be upset by such a thing?

Ah,... well... it turns out the answer to that question is "Pretty Much Everyone".

Federal officials knew that sending two fighter jets and a 747 from the presidential fleet to buzz ground zero and Lady Liberty might set off nightmarish fears of a 9/11 replay, but they still ordered the photo-op kept secret from the public.

In a memo obtained by CBS 2 HD, the Federal Aviation Administration's James Johnston said the agency was aware of "the possibility of public concern regarding DOD aircraft flying at low altitudes" in an around New York City.

But they demanded total secrecy from the NYPD, the Secret Service, the FBI and even the mayor's office and threatened federal sanctions if the secret got out.

Okay, so they knew that the people of New York haven't completely forgotten 9-11 (the election of The One notwithstanding) and that, as such, buzzing lower Manhattan with a commercial airliner would likely have people evacuating buildings in anticipation of a potentially horrific, fiery death.

At least we can take solace in the knowledge that this office of the White House must have had a Very Good Reason for doing this, right?

And the 'Total Secrecy' over the operation that prevented anyone from saying "Nothing to Be Alarmed About, Folks" to the citizens of New York - that was for Security reasons - to keep the POTUS safe, right?

Ummm....yeah - about that...

The flyover -- apparently ordered by the White House Office of Military Affairs so it would have souvenir photos of Air Force One with the Statue of Liberty in the background"

Souvenir. Photos.

Uh, Okay - my two-cents here:

If this is the alternative, please go back to cheap-DVD-sets and iPods.

BTW,

- An AirForceOne joy-ride,
- White House threats of 'Federal Sanctions' against the NYPD,and the Mayor's Office
- Two F-16 fighter jets,
- A combined cost of about $328,000 for the 2-hour-tour

And O's response is "I didn't know"?

If this had been GW, do you think the whole of the MSM would have led-in with "Stupid", "Incompetent" or "Evil" first?

Oh, and here's a good bit too:

"The NYPD was so upset about the demand for secrecy that Police Commissioner Ray Kelly vowed never to follow such a directive again and he accused the feds of inciting fears of a 9/11 replay.

Uh-Oh, Mr. Kelly...

- Anger @ the White House?
- A vow not to bend to Federal control?
- Negative-conjecture and accusations against government motive?

Looks like the NYC Police Commissioner just made The List.

Welcome to the ranks of Right Wing Extremism, Ray - glad to have you.

Guns on a plane, oh my!

The Chosen One has decided to endanger the flying public in the name of an anti-gun ideology. This Editorial details how this last week the Chosen One's administration secretly diverted some $2 million from the pilot training program and plans to hire more "supervisory staff, who will engage in more field inspections of pilots". The editoral goes on to say that "This looks like completely unnecessary harassment of the pilots. The 12,000 Federal Flight Deck Officers, the pilots who have been approved to carry guns, are reported to have the best behavior of any federal law enforcement agency."

Remember that until the early '60s, pilots on any flight that carried US mail were required to carry handguns. So the idea of armed pilots is nothing new.

Money quote: "Only anti-gun extremists and terrorist recruits are worried about armed pilots. So why is the Obama administration catering to this tiny lobby at the expense of public safety?"

Edit: Day-um! I think we beat Insti on this one.

Obama Proposes Making Vets Pay for Service-Related Medical Treatment
(I am shocked that CNN ran this story)

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance.

Private. Insurance.

Private Insurance which they'd be able to get in the first place, with their "pre-existing conditions", Right?

No official proposal to create such a program has been announced publicly, but veterans groups wrote a pre-emptive letter last week to President Obama voicing their opposition to the idea after hearing the plan was under consideration.

"Hearing the plan was under consideration"?

Well, I guess that could mean that there's no real intent-to-commit, if that's all they're running on, right?

Wrong.

Turns out - all that 'Not-paying-for-servicemen's-medical-care' - savings is actually already baked right into Obama's 2010 Budget Proposal.

The groups also cited an increase in "third-party collections" estimated in the 2010 budget proposal -- something they said could be achieved only if the Veterans Administration started billing for service-related injuries.

Built. Into. The. Budget.

Behold - part of The One's plan to
"Reduce the Deficit by Half"

...and while we're here, let's get some perspective on what He said at the time:

He identified exploding health-care costs as the chief culprit behind rising federal deficits during a bipartisan "fiscal responsibility summit" convened to discuss ways to restore fiscal stability without deepening the recession.
There we go - true to his word, this is merely a 'cutting of health-care costs'.

Quick comparison:

- Run your multinational bank or car company into the ground through mismanagement and malfeasance?

Turn the money-valve fully to the "On" position!

- Catch and IED-blast or sniper-fire in service to your country?

Wow, too bad - hope you can pay for that!

And even when blatantly caught, red-handed, trying to exploit military personnel and violate a sacred trust between our country and those who lay their lives on the line for her - they still can't man-up and take responsibility.

Asked about the proposal, Shinseki said it was under "consideration."

"A final decision hasn't been made yet," he said.

Apparently "Final" enough to have baked it into The Messiah's budget, you pathetic, cowardly, weak, sad excuse for a pale shadow of a man.

This has to end.

This has to be stopped.

Snowball cannot be allowed to send Boxer away. Again.

Looks like "NeoCons"...

.. aren't the only ones who think that to "meet without preconditions" with terrorist regimes - is a bad idea.

(okay, I know it's late and this is more posting than a normal day, but seriously, this guy is comedy-gold!)

Taliban say Obama's call on moderates "illogical"

"Afghanistan's Taliban on Tuesday turned down as illogical U.S. President Barack Obama's bid to reach out to moderate elements of the insurgents, saying the exit of foreign troops was the only solution for ending the war."

"This does not require any response or reaction for this is illogical," Qari Mohammad Yousuf, a purported spokesman for the insurgent group, told Reuters..."

"The Taliban are united, have one leader, one aim, one policy...I do not know why they are talking about moderate Taliban and what it means?"

"If it means those who are not fighting and are sitting in their homes, then talking to them is meaningless. This really is surprising the Taliban."

When Obama first announced that he would "reach out to moderate elements in the Taliban" - It was (for me) one of those moments to wonder if he had been cognizant of anything concerning the international politics that have made major impacts at any point during his life.

I'm about the same age as The One, and I vividly remember that the very reason we backed/trained/supplied/funded the Taliban against the Soviets (doubtlessly the greater of two evils at the time) - was because there were no moderates among them, and they could be absolutely counted on to fight to the last man.

What - did he think that the ensuing years of soft living and soy-lattes would have changed that?

So now that we've 'Marked Biden's Words'...

Look at that - it's like the man's a genius or something!

So, this basically acts as a continuation of Friday's "What IS he trying to do?" - post.

Now that the world has seen the complete & utter incomprehensible incompetence of The One in relation to the domestic American economy, any ability to relate to the will of the American People, and now have a good sampling of his clumsy, club-footed and largely spineless forays into what should have been fairly straight-forward foreign policy matters....

Some of the larger and more immediately-scary players on the world stage have decided to take Joe Biden's advice and test our "overwhelmed" Commander-in-Chief.

First it was the Chinese deciding that this would be a good time to start playing 'chicken' with US Naval ships.

"...one of the Chinese ships came within 25 feet (7.5 meters) of the USNS Impeccable, a surveillance vessel designed to support anti-submarine warfare, and that the Chinese crew tried to snag the cables that tow the ship's underwater sonars."
Naturally when the inevitable protests came, the Chinese fell back on that old chestnut that has worked so well all over the world - "It's America's Fault"

"Ma said U.S. naval ships must ask China's permission anytime they sailed within its exclusive economic zone, a 200-nautical-mile zone off its shores. The claim amounted to an assertive attempt to bar U.S. Navy vessels from approaching China's shores, even affecting transit of the sensitive Taiwan Strait."
...and why not?

After all, given Obama's grovelling apology to terrorist-supplying Muslim countries during the first post-inauguration-days, Ma has to figure that his approach runs at least even-odds of being successful - maybe even to the extent of getting The One to throw Taiwan under the bus in a Carter/Panama-Canal-esque reflex action.

But, in the sense of "If Some is Good, then More is Better"...

Smelling buffoonery in the water - the North Koreans have now queued-up for their helping of whatever -else-will-be-given-away...

"North Korea on Monday cut its military hotline to Seoul and put its million-man army at battle stations, ratcheting up tensions as South Korean and US troops began war games that Pyongyang warned could spark open conflict.

North Korea’s official KCNA news agency quoted an army spokesman as saying: “It is nonsensical to maintain the normal channels of communication when the South Korean puppets are in a frenzy about these military exercises, levelling their guns at fellow countrymen in league with foreign forces.”

Now, the whole point-of and motivation-for all of this should be intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer.

China and N.Korea, having watched (along with the rest of us) Obama begin systemic capitulation to Iran AND initiate the alienation of our closest allies AND take the necessary steps to ensure that the US economy will soon render us unable to continue defending our neighbors and allies - have decided to belly-up to the bar to see what sort of fire-sale bargains they can rattle or threaten out of us.

Makes sense, really - it's not like he's given them any reason to believe it won't work.

... and I might be wrong, but I don't think "I Won" is going cut it.

- MuscleDaddy

P.S. - Note to the BDS-afflicted: This same sort of business that has Obama 'overwrought' and trying to find his own ...ahem... with a flashlight?

Same stuff that George W. dealt with - every day...

Just sayin' is all.

Friday, March 6, 2009

So, what IS he trying to do?

Let's do some dot-connecting here...

So apparently our 44th President, Barack Hussein Obama, has decided that 'good judgement' means:

- Beefing up the Palestinian Army

In addition, U.S. President Barack Obama intends to add a budget of as much as $55 million for training the force at the base, according to the Reuters news agency. The current budget is $75 million, and such an increase would almost double American military assistance to the PA.
(supporting the standing-army of a not-country that largely longs for a second holocaust - no, that's an excellent idea)

- Inviting Iran to Afghanistan talks

"The new approach is expected to emphasize nonmilitary means of blunting the power of the Taliban and other insurgents..."
(last time I checked, 'nonmilitary means' of dealing with barbaric forces involved "Danegeld")

... because Iran is interested in peaceful existence in the ME... no, wait:
"Iran throws conference to support Hamas"

(Okay - back to The One's "judgement")

- Making deliberate, symbolic gestures...
"A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government's art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back."

"But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks."

- ...to alienate America's closest Ally
"No British leader in modern times has been greeted with less decorum by his American counterpart, and the amateur reception he received was more fitting for the arrival of a Third World potentate than the leader of America’s closest ally."

- Slapping a gag-order on the DoD concerning any "changes" in Defense budget-spending
"The Obama administration has directed defense officials to sign a pledge stating they will not share 2010 budget data with individuals outside the federal government."
(Hm - 'Transparency'... What could those changes be, that Obama wouldn't want word of them getting out?)

- Continuing to Do Everything that is Demonstrably Wrong for the Economy
"It's hard not to see the continued sell-off on Wall Street and the growing fear on Main Street as a product, at least in part, of the realization that our new president's policies are designed to radically re-engineer the market-based U.S. economy, not just mitigate the recession and financial crisis."

So - to Recap:

- Sucking up to avowed enemies...

- Alternately imperiling and alienating avowed allies...

- Instituting a
"leaks-for-me-but-not-for-thee" policy regarding "changes" to Defense-spending...

And all while, doing everything he can think of to make sure that the U.S. economy goes all-the-way into the tank ... and stays there.

.......................................*

I submit to you my opinion that this much propensity for 'Wrong' in such a short amount of time
- from someone who has successfully survived to adulthood - cannot merely be "Bad Judgement".

With a "Leader" like this....

God help us.

Looks like I'm not the only one...

...who's "too clever by half".

I haven't posted anything about the latest 'cartoon-scandal' before - mostly because it's already over-done and I try to stay away from doing a straight "me-too" thing here on the Gazette.

But something happened the other day to change my mind.

We've got this talk-radio station here in the Denver-area, and they carry a drive-home show - "Caplis & Silverman". They do a sort of medium-power "Hannity & Colmes" schtick, with Dan Caplis in the 'Conservative' seat and Craig Silverman usually trying to defend the indefensible.

Yes, it's been done, but I usually really like the way Caplis is able to destroy opposing arguements by just maintaing his cool, staying focused, keeping to the facts instead of 'feelings' and almost never biting at Silverman's straw-arguments, and I also keep listening because they hit a lot of local issues.

But...

Holy Crap, were they in-synch with their PC, apologetic (nearly apoplectic) hand-wringing over the "Cartoon Scandal"!

The only thing that kept them from singing
"It was Wrong, Racist, and Called for Obama's Assassination" in four-part harmony, was that there are only two of them with dedicated microphones.

Personally - I didn't see it.

Having been reading & banging on the
"Great Generational Theft Act of 2009" as much as I have (and will continue to do), my first reaction to the newest "Killer Cartoon" was:

"Heh... Yeah - Crazed Chimp Shot - Crazed Chimp had to have Written the 'Stimulus' - Have to Get A New Crazed Chimp If They Want to Write a New One..."

But 'Oh, No', I am told over the sound of the knuckle-chafing hand-wringing - 'The *Chimp* is really Racist Code for *Obama*' (who, of course, wrote the Stim... no, wait - he didn't) and the police officers who have shot the *Chimp* aren't really a temporal reference to the sensationalized story of actual Officers who had to shoot an Actual Crazed Chimp - No! - that's really a call for the *assassination* of *Obama*.

Now, I've come to expect that sort of thing from Silverman, who appears to check the LGBT/Rainbow-Push-Index to know whether righteous indignation is in order, but that Dan Caplis wasn't even trying to apply Occam's Razor to what was right in front of him?

This finally bothered me so much, that I just pulled over and called-in to the show, pointing out my reaction to the cartoon (before the Reverend Sharpton told me what I was *allowed* to think, of course) and attempting to explain that sometimes-a-comic-is-just-a-comic and that the sort of Offense-Seeking-Grievance-Mongering that has resulted is not only a direct connection to Eric Holder's "Nation of Cowards" speech, but also the very reason that any "frank discussion of Race" will never, ever be allowed in the US (for, invariably, the Sharpton-Shakedown and sycophantic 'mea-culpas' will ensue).

In response, (by the "Conservative" no less) I was told that to take the cartoon @ face-value - and without applying *Racist Code* to it, the Author and the Newspaper was just being "Too Clever By Half".

As I was given the bum's-rush off-line, my parting remark was that I must be more "Post-Racial" than Eric Holder.

Well, now it looks like I'm not the only Clever-Kid on the block:

Will The Real Monkey Stand Up!
Rev. Peterson of BOND Action, Inc. Blasts Sharpton Over NY Post Cartoon Controversy

Yup - looks like the Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson of BOND is calling 'foul' on the Race-Baiters as well.

"The Post cartoon was provocative, but not racist. And it certainly was not an 'invitation' to assassinate President Obama. These are manufactured allegations by racist left-wing Democrat operatives. Sharpton, the NAACP, and their angry supporters want to intimidate and silence independent media outlets like The New York Post and The FOX News Channel. The cartoon was poking fun at the ineptness of those who wrote the horrible stimulus welfare package -- nothing more.

"I've said repeatedly on my national radio show that Barack Obama was elected because of white guilt and black racism. The majority of whites voted for Obama to prove once and for all that they don't have racial hang-ups. Ninety-six percent of blacks voted for him because of his race. We now have the first black president and his party leading our nation towards socialism; and anyone who dares poke fun or criticize are racists?

"Most blacks see racism under every rock and newspaper because they've never repented of their anger and racism toward whites. But this so-called boycott is not about racism; it's an attempt to muzzle free speech. And it's apparent who the real monkey is in this circus."
So - who's interpretation to go with?

Grievance-Monger "Reverend Sharpton" and other like-minded career
Shakedown Artists...

Or Reverend Peterson, who has always held that self-determination is the way to build families & society?

Never mind - I think I've already got it figured out.

- MuscleDaddy

P.S. - Dan Caplis - that you immediately "recognized" the *Chimp* as 'code' for *Obama* - means that you also had to automatically associate *Obama* with the *Chimp*

... so what's really goin' on?

P.P.S. - The morning guy on KHOW - Peter Boyles - is great.

Just in case you weren't clear by now...

First Obama put up a Tax Cheat for Treasury Secretary.

But apparently that wasn't quite enough to really demonstrate the disdain he feels for the sensibilities of the average American.

But fear not - I think he's finally got it dialed in this time.

How about a kiddie-p0arn-attorney for Deputy Attorney General?
(gotta watch those filters)

From Fidelis:

“Ogden’s record is nothing short of obscene.

... He has opposed filters on library computers protecting children from Internet smut, and successfully defended the right of pornographers to produce material with underage children.”

As a lawyer in private practice, Ogden has argued for an unlimited abortion license, gays in the military, and has urged courts to treat traditional definitions of marriage as a social prejudice.

“A vast majority of Americans support parental notification before a minor’s abortion and protecting kids from Internet pornography in our libraries,...“Yet David Ogden has fought tooth and nail against these common sense laws protecting our children from harm.

At a time when America’s families are under increasing assault, Mr. Ogden is a dangerous choice for a position whose responsibilities include the enforcement of our nation’s laws.

So - do you Bitterly-Clinging, simple-minded, flyover, racist, rube-hicks get it now?

Has your Commander-in-Chief done his job of 'Communicating' to you?

This Administration will brook no insolence from your simplisme, un-nuanced, back-country, right-and-wrong judgmentalism!

Obama promised "Change"...

...and now he has delivered.
Via 'This Ain't Hell' ...

We learn that the Shitbird-In-Chief is the first newly-inaugurated President in 56 years (that's 14 Presidential Inaugurations) to blow-off the “Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball”, which recognizes recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Apparently CMH winners don't make the Presidential short-list anymore...

So, where was Barry Soetoro - clearly too busy to be bothered with a bunch of 'old guys'?

According to the
Sofia News Agency, the evening went like this:

- The Neighborhood Ball,
(celebrities at the Neighborhood Ball at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center included Stevie Wonder, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Faith Hill Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, will.i.am. from the Black-Eyes Peas, Sting and Mariah Carey.)

- The Home State Ball, for Illinois and Hawaii

- The Commander-in-Chief Ball, was next. Obama saluted the nation's military
men and women... via satellite.

- The Youth Inaugural Ball, where people between the ages of 18 and 35 gathered,
(Kid Rock and Kanye West )

- The Home State Ball for Delaware and Pennsylvania,

- The night ended with brief appearances at the Mid-Atlantic,

Western, (Marc Anthony)

Midwest, (Cheryl Crow)

Southernand Eastern regional balls.

Of course you can understand how The One would see hob-nobbing with Jay-Z and Kanye West as being more pressing than merely continuing a 56-year tradition of meeting with some of America's greatest heroes, right?

I mean - especially when meeting what other, lesser men might previously have considered an "obligation" would take him so far our of his way on the party circuit!

I mean honestly, all the way from the
Walter Williams Convention Center to the Renaissance Hotel?!?

Clearly, he'd have missed the chance to dance with Cheryl Crow!
Some perspective here, please!

Change... it begins here.

Just a Voice In The Night...

So, there I am in the locker room @ the gym, when I happen to overhear Larry King on the Communist News Network - "Checking In" with CNN-correspondents in different cities...

This one creampuff "reporting" from Denver says "Well, Larry, it looks like Barack Obama is poised to take Colorado!"

But wait....

In the very next breath he says that "About 50% of the registered voters in Colorado have already cast their ballots"

WTF?!?!

So let me get this straight.... 50% - also known as HALF THE STATE - hasn't even VOTED YET but Obama is somehow "poised" to win?!?!

Oh, this is just going to be that much sweeter when, like Jennings calling FL for Gore in '00 before the polls closed, this doesn't work out for them and we kick their asses.
